Oomama's Fundraising Committee organizes events and undertakes projects in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) and its work to help grandmothers caring for their grandchildren whose parents have died from AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. The frequency of our committee  meetings depends on the need and project activity.  

How is money raised? 
Funds are raised through creative endeavours, community events and bazaars, including craft sales, concerts, and speaker events. Stride to Turn the Tide is a Canada-wide fundraiser with participants walking, running, riding, gardening, etc. to raise funds for the Foundation's projects. Our Marketplace is our on-line site to purchase gifts for family, friends and yourself.   As of the end of 2023, we have raised $742,983.

How are funds used?  
Since 2003, the SLF has funded over 1800 initiatives, partnering with more than 325 community-based organizations in sub-Saharan Africa.
