COMMUNITY CONCERT A GREAT SUCCESS

Oomama co-hosted the Sounds of Love & Hope concert on February 23, 2018 in Oakville, along with local tenor Mervyn Russell and the Power of One Team from St. John’s United Church.

The sale of tickets plus a silent auction, marketplace and donations resulted in a net amount of $5317 for the SLF.

In addition to Mervyn singing Broadway tunes, well-known soprano Charlene Pauls offered both classical and gospel selections. As well the teen choir she directs - the Raise Her Voice Chamber Choir, a part of the Oakville Choir for Children and Youth – inspired the audience with their talent and love of music. And pianist Herb Williams accompanied Mervyn, as well as playing a Gershwin medley.

The wide range of musical styles was well-received by the audience of over 200, who also enjoyed complimentary refreshments as they perused the silent auction of donated items and the marketplace, featuring jewelry and bags crafted by two Oomama members.
