The Halton-Peel Team: Oomama and Bronte Grandmothers for Africa
Virtual Stride Walk
March 1 - June 30, 2023
In April, we made it through Lilongwe, Lusaka Zambia, Harare Zimbabwe, Maputo Mozambique, Manzini Swaziland, Maseru Lesotho, Capetown South Africa and stopped 435 KMs away from Windhoek Namibia.
We will need a big push in May and June if we hope to make it all the way back to our starting point in Ethiopia. With the promise of better gardening weather, perhaps we can surpass our April results by more than 8 KMs!!
As well, we have raised over $10,000 so far. Congratulations to all and if you haven’t started Fundraising, it’s not too late to do so!!
Stride to Turn the Tide is a fundraising initiative created in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They organize virtual walks and activities of all sorts that can be done safely from home, or where possible, through social distancing in their communities.
We invite family, friends, and supporters of all ages to participate in solidarity with the grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa who walk with purpose every day as they turn the tide of HIV and AIDS.

Anne MacKenzie-Thompson shares her poems as we visit SLF supported sites on our way across sub-Saharan Africa.

The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) delivers funds directly to grassroots and community-based organizations in sub-Saharan Africa, who are at the forefront of the response to HIV and AIDS.
