Stride to Turn the Tide
The Halton-Peel Team: Oomama and Bronte Grandmothers for Africa
Virtual Stride Walk
March 1 - June 30, 2022
In May we passed all the way to the end of the 10,254 KM route at Addis Ababa Ethiopia. We then reversed our route and headed back towards our starting point!
In June, we made it through Kigali, Bukava DRC, Dar es Salaam Tanzania, Lilongwe Malawi, Maputo Mozambique and fell short of Manzini Swaziland by just 261 KMs.
We have raised for the SLF a total so far of $15,525! Our goal was $15,000 so great work everyone for exceeding our goal. SLF can still accept donations to our Stride until the end of the year so everyone can keep on donating.
Stride to Turn the Tide is a fundraising initiative created in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They organize virtual walks and activities of all sorts that can be done safely from home, or where possible, through social distancing in their communities.
We invite family, friends, and supporters of all ages to participate in solidarity with the grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa who walk with purpose every day as they turn the tide of HIV and AIDS.
Anne MacKenzie-Thompson shares her poems as we visit SLF supported sites on our way across sub-Saharan Africa.
The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) delivers funds directly to grassroots and community-based organizations in sub-Saharan Africa, who are at the forefront of the response to HIV and AIDS.
