The Halton-Peel Team: Oomama and Bronte Grandmothers for Africa
Virtual Stride Walk
March 1 - June 30, 2023
What a team!! We managed to stride a total of 20,321 KMs! Awesome 'stepping' everyone!
In June, we continued through Zambia, Malawi, DRC, Rwanda, Uganda, and Kenya, on our way back to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. We ended up just 187 KMs outside of our starting point of Addis Ababa.
What a trip! We not only stepped our way through Africa, but we also raised close to $16,000 (so far) for the Stephen Lewis Foundation!! Congratulations to everyone for an outstanding accomplishment.
You will have to wait until the Wrap Up Party, September 21st (don't forget to save the date), to find out the winners of Most Steps, and Most Money Raised.
Your Halton/Peel Virtual Stride Team
Stride to Turn the Tide is a fundraising initiative created in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They organize virtual walks and activities of all sorts that can be done safely from home, or where possible, through social distancing in their communities.
We invite family, friends, and supporters of all ages to participate in solidarity with the grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa who walk with purpose every day as they turn the tide of HIV and AIDS.

Anne MacKenzie-Thompson shares her poems as we visit SLF supported sites on our way across sub-Saharan Africa.
