The Halton-Peel Team: Oomama and Bronte Grandmothers for Africa
Virtual Stride Walk
April 1 - June 30, 2024
We started at the beginning of April in Iqualuit, Nunavut, and ended just outside Terrace BC at the end of June. We hit all the Provincial Capitals and were treated to wonderful poetry from Anne Mackenzie-Thompson as we went along our route. We completed 11, 859 kms on our cross-Canada route.
You can see from our Map of Canada that it was a huge undertaking by our 22 striders.
The Bronte Grandmothers/Oomama Team raised over $12,442! In all, we walked, ran, swam, gardened, exercised, cleaned house, and completed many other activities to clock over 15 million steps! Congratulations to everyone!
Your Halton/Peel Virtual Stride Team
Stride to Turn the Tide is a fundraising initiative created in support of the Stephen Lewis Foundation's Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. They organize virtual walks and activities of all sorts that can be done safely from home, or where possible, through social distancing in their communities.
We invite family, friends, and supporters of all ages to participate in solidarity with the grandmothers in sub-Saharan Africa who walk with purpose every day as they turn the tide of HIV and AIDS.
